THE STARTING POINT

Considered around
your home.

The finished surface is only part of a terrace. Its base, levels, joints and drainage affect how it performs. A new sandy plot needs preparation before paving; an existing terrace needs its condition checked before a replacement is specified. LLD plans these details alongside the size of the seating area, routes through the garden and the material you want to see.

SHAPING THE SCOPE

What we can bring together.

01

Terraces and paths

A layout for outdoor dining, circulation and seating, with surface changes and connections to the villa considered together.

02

Materials and detailing

A coordinated selection of paving and finishes, reviewed through appropriate samples and the proposed installation details.

03

Built landscape features

Planters, edges and seating where suitable, with technical requirements and specialist design identified for the chosen scope.

04

Levels and preparation

Existing surfaces, thresholds, sub-base requirements and drainage routes assessed before the installation approach is confirmed.

BEFORE YOU COMMIT

The decisions that matter.

01

How the surface will be used

Barefoot areas, circulation routes, outdoor dining and service access place different demands on finishes and detailing.

02

Connections to the house

Review door thresholds, existing levels and where water will go. These decisions should precede the final paving pattern.

03

The character of the material

Natural variation, texture, joints and cleaning requirements influence how a finish feels and ages. Review samples in the intended setting.

A clearly defined proposal.

Scope and specialist work

Structural retaining works, major level changes and alterations affecting the villa or utilities require separate technical review. Surface finishes do not resolve underlying drainage or structural problems on their own; the relevant work must be included in the agreed scope.

What shapes the quotation

Material grade, preparation, demolition, disposal, patterns, cutting, edge details and access influence the quotation. Compare the specified build-up and drainage provisions as well as the visible paving product.

A LITTLE MORE DETAIL

Your questions,
answered.

Can new paving be laid over an existing surface?

That depends on condition, build-up, levels and drainage. The installation approach should follow a site assessment rather than assume the existing surface is a suitable base.

How do we choose a garden paving material?

Start with intended use, exposure, texture, appearance and maintenance expectations. Product suitability and installation requirements should be checked for the actual location.

Can you renew only the terrace?

A terrace refresh can be scoped independently, provided its connections to drainage, planting and existing garden levels are considered.
